- Tremaine L. Phillips is currently the president of Third Coast Strategies, LLC, and was previously appointed by Governor Gretchen Whitmer to the Michigan Public Service Commission. As a commissioner, Tremaine served on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) and was chair of the NARUC Committee on Telecommunications. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Organization of PJM States and represented the Commission on Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s Michigan Poverty Task Force, the Michigan Council on Future Mobility and Electrification, the Michigan Environmental Justice Response Team, and the Connecting Michigan Task Force.
- Prior to his appointment, Commissioner Phillips worked in the public and private sectors to accelerate the nation’s transition to clean, renewable, and reliable energy resources. Tremaine served as the Director of Cincinnati 2030 District, leading the organization to become one of the largest and most engaged 2030 Districts in the country. As vice president of strategic initiatives for EmpowerSaves, a Columbus-based energy efficiency data analytics and marketing company, he was recognized in 2016 as an emerging clean energy leader through the Midwest Energy News’ 40 Under 40 award.
- He previously worked for the Prima Civitas Foundation, the State of Michigan’s Department of Energy, Labor, & Economic Growth, and the Michigan Environmental Council. He also spent a summer in Washington, DC, as an extern with the Obama Administration’s White House Council on Environmental Quality, working to advance climate and clean energy policies, including the Clean Power Plan. Tremaine is a graduate of Michigan State University and Ohio State University, where he received his JD from the Moritz College of Law and an MA in public policy and management from the John Glenn College of Public Affairs.
Interview GoalThis call will focus on Power grid modernization. Call topics will be on the need to modernize Europe’s transmission and distribution grids, the required capex / RAB growth, major beneficiaries, the power grid supply chain including technology providers, and cable manufacturers
